Extraordinary Programs for Extraordinary Students

Future Ready

We take college preparation seriously. In fact, we based our program on a college model. High school students attend each core class twice a week, with the remainder of the week spent in independent study - just as they will in college. Classes are limited to a maximum of 18 students to allow for instructional methods ranging from a lecture format to seminar-type discussions and presentations.


Innovative Education

Students at RVCS choose how they learn. We offer two tracks - hybrid (some in-person classes + independent study) or 100% independent study with 100% online classes. Both tracks can access student activities like prom, game night, sports, field trips, and international travel. Students who want to change tracks can switch at the end of a semester. 


Dedicated Instructors

RVCS teachers are considered stakeholders who, along with parents and students, help govern the school and maintain its vision. In addition to maintaining their professional expertise, our dedicated teachers keep parents involved through communication and the use of the school website to post grades and assignments every week. Instructors post office hours for family consults, and tutoring is available to all RVCS students. Each core teacher at RVCS possesses a credential, teaches in the area of their academic degree, and is NCLB compliant. 


State Seal of Biliteracy

In the fall of 2016, RVCS began offering a Spanish immersion program. Students take four years of immersion courses in literature, social studies, and advanced Spanish instruction. Completing all the requirements leads to graduating with the State Seal of Biliteracy.

We are located in Lakeside - approximately twenty-five minutes from downtown San Diego.

RVCS is a California Distinguished School with an Academic Performance Index (API) of 925 in 2011 - the highest for high schools in San Diego County.  We have earned the highest API  in San Diego County for seven years in a row. 

Accredited

Designed from the outset to be academically rigorous, RVCS has been fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 2002. You can feel confident about the education your teenager receives with us.
